KAWS

At the Newman Art Museum (at JCCC) the artist Kaws has an exhibit. I'd like to give a overview about him and why I like his work. Above are 3 of his painting at one of his international exhibits. They are interesting because they are in lack and white compared to some of his colored work.
He started off doing graffiti in New Jersey.

Then he went to New York and his job there way in advertising. As people started seeing his ads, he became more and more famous and well known. His popularity skyrocketed.

He then went to college and started do sculptures. Because he was so well known, his works where liked immediately.

He also helped with the animation series 101 Dalmatians, The Simpsons, Daria, and Doug. He later has used his experience there in his artwork. Such as the one below. I enjoy looking at the multiply layers of the image.

He has sculptures, acrylic paintings, and other works in Paris, Tokyo, London, Berlin, and in the US. This big sculpture on the top right is located in Tokyo, Japan. He also has one very similar to it at the Newman Art Museum.

What I like about him is that he takes well known things like the Simpsons or Snoopy (from the Peanuts series aka Charlie Brown) and then he makes it his own. Mainly he puts a X where the eye will  be and kinda turns the head into a skull. I think that it shows his personality very well.
I also like how he uses color in his work. In some of his paintings it's really colorful and really 3-D looking because the colors follow through on the lines that he created. They look really really cool. I enjoy them. But they are really expensive because KAWS is so well known around the world.
